Our orchard was established in 1961 by Bülent Bekem (1927-2011) over the land which his wife, Aybikem Bekem inherited from her family. Orchard covers an area of 215,000 square meters on the fertile soil of Gümüldür, Izmir-Turkey, where the high quality Satsuma mandarins are grown. Gümüldür’s soil and microclimate resemble that of the homeland of Satsuma mandarins in Satsuma (now Kagoshima), Kyushu-Japan. This fact makes Gümüldür a second homeland for the delicious mandarins.

Following Bülent Bekem’s lost in 2011 the orchard was started to be managed by the second generation, Çimen Tamersoy, elder daughter of Aybikem-Bülent Bekem, and her husband Mahmut Tamersoy. The new team commenced their term with an extensive renovation of the infrastructure, including the modernization of the irrigation, cultivation, fertilization and agricultural medication. Since then, qualitative and quantitative improvement is made a perpetual attribute of the orchard.

At the beginning of 2020, the second generation decided to name the orchard as “ABB Citrus Land” to honor the lifelong effort and success of Aybikem and Bülent Bekem.

ABB Citrus Land strives to continue the family tradition of producing high quality Satsuma mandarins for the consumers.

We produce one of the best Satsuma mandarins in Europe and decisive to do so for the generations to come.
